Life Update
Hmm, how does one bring her friends and readers up to date on her life after just over 3-1/2 years of no posts on the blog. It would be almost impossible to attempt to create a post for every new recipe or trip over this period of time.
I decided to post a few photos showing some of the high points and not so good points. So, lets take a trip down memory lane.
In early 2019 I took an 8-night cruise by myself. We stopped in Freeport and Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas. Then headed south to Aruba, Curacao and Grand Turk. I met some neat people and enjoyed the trip.
On May 2,2019, exactly 8 months, to the day that I had lost Kelekona, I had to let Liliuokalani cross the rainbow bridge. I was devastated. I tried rescuing another dog but it didn't work out.
By November I had cheered up and treated myself to Wicked. It was fantastic.
I spent Thanksgiving 2019 at my daughter's house. Who knew children could be so unhappy while shopping for a Christmas tree, even after fresh Dunkin Doughnuts.
In Janary of 2020 I went shopping for a new dog. I had my heart set on another Shar Pei. Just my luck I found this gorgeous girl on a rescue page. After some paperwork and shipping logistics she made the trip from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Florida.
The first few weeks were interesting as she did not understand any English and I spoke no Spanish. She is now an awesome dog. She even has her own blog where I document every trip we take.
In February of 2020, before Covid hit, my new dog, Mea'Ola and I took a long weekend and went up to see my son.
In June of 2020 while the whole Covid lock down was in full force, I lost my 82 year old mother to Alzheimer's.
Feeling the need to runaway for a few days in the fall, I found a really cute little cabin in the North Carolina foothills for along weekend. Almost all hiking got put on hold as the area received 6-inches of rain from the outer band of a hurricane that had hit Louisiana.
During the 2020 holiday season I learned to love kale.
Christmas of 2020 I went and spent a few days with my son. I enjoyed hanging out with his girlfriend who was pregnant with my fourth grandchild.
March of 2021 brought another vacation to North Carolina. This time I spent a week in the town where I used to live. The weather was perfect.
In April of 2021 my newest grandchild, Annabella Scarlet made her appearance.
Finally, as 2021 was winding down, I used my meager inheritance from my mother's estate to purchase as small home for Mea'Ola and I. But it is big enough for one of my children and their family to come visit.
As I continue this blog, we'll go back and see why I am doing some of the things I am doing around the house.
Stay tuned.
