Road Tips, Back to Back

This is a semi-terrible blog post. Did not take nearly as many photos on these road trips as I had intended to. It happens once in awhile.

So, March 13th I picked up my rental car and turned towards Jacksonville. My daughter was having her baby sprinkle on the 14th and since I don't have a job and can't seem to find one in this part of the world I sent the girls to see 'Aunt' Trudy for two nights.

Friday night I made a blueberry coffee cake for Saturday's festivities and then made tacos for us for supper.

Hillary hosted the sprinkle and had some of the decorations up when we got there.

There was a good amount of food. My coffee cake is in the back on the left hand side. The one with the glaze on it.

Miss Savannah was rockin' her new big sister shirt she had gotten at Christmas. I've said it before and I'll say it for the rest of my life,,,I love this munchkin!

Patricia opening my gift. Loved the bag I found to put everything in.

Saturday after the shower we got back to Patricia's house. While Savannah was napping Patricia and I went through all the gifts and took the tags off so all the sheets, clothes and such could be washed. I then made us a pot roast, carrots and mashed potatoes for supper.

Sunday I was on the road just before 7am so I could get my girls. They were so excited to see me when I went to pick them up. Little did the know that they were going back to Trudy's 5 nights later.

Friday the 20th, after I had taken the girls over to Trudy's, I got my rental car and headed to Decatur to spend some quality time with my son. I had not seen CJ since Thanksgiving and 4 months is just too long to go between visits.

On Friday night he took me to the Kimball House for dinner. I had read about the place in Southern Living and had asked CJ if he knew of the place. I was quite surprised when he took me there on Friday and also knew the owners. Trust me, if you are ever in the Decatur area you HAVE to eat there. It is in an old railroad depot and the trains still go by on occasion.

Saturday he picked me up and we met his girlfriend, Kat, and her father for lunch at El Matador. Same Mexican place Micheal and I had gone to with CJ once upon a time.

After lunch we headed over so I could meet Ella, she is Kat's dog. Along the way we passed the belly dance studio. I told CJ how a friend of mine in Jacksonville and I have been talking about learning to belly dance when I get settled.

When I got out of the car I had to take a photo of the trees in bloom.

The house Kat lives in with her father is the same one she grew up in. This is her tiny handprint on the front walk.

Ella is about Kele's size and very enamored with CJ. She is a sweet dog.

After meeting Ella, CJ and I headed off to the DeKalb County Farmers' Market, or is it the International Market?

The logo makes me think international. Anyway, I make it a point to shop here every time I'm in Decatur. You are not allowed to take any pictures in side.

I bought some guava juice, a papaya, some green lentils, smoked turkey wings, a 5 lb duck, a breadfruit, some roasted peanuts, an incredible salami and some Australian cheddar. I was there on the 21st and as of the 25th the papaya, the duck, the smoked turkey wings and the peanuts are all gone. Before you ask, no I did not take any photos of the roast duck not the stir fry I made with the left overs. Nor of the turkey wings, but I will do a post when I cook the breadfruit.

After a nap at the hotel, CJ and Kat picked me up and we headed out to dinner. We ate at a fairly new place called Twisted Soul and it happens to be across the street from the Kimball House.

We had a wonderful meal there before I needed to head back to my hotel.

Nice thing about moving to Jax, I'm still only a little over 5 hours away from my son and hopefully I can see him more often.
