A Trip to The Zoo
One of the things I love about my job is that we are closed on all Federal holidays. Savannah's 4th birthday was approaching and I had off Martin Luther King Day. After a series of text messages with my daughter it was decided that I would take Savannah to the zoo, just her and I. This would be my first outing alone with my grand daughter.
It was a lovely day, not too hot and very sunny. Our first stop, at Savannah's request, was an aviary. This bird just hopped up next to me. It sort of freaked out Savannah when it flew inches over her head.
Our next stop was the Rhinos. Every time we saw an animal she would ask "What can we see next?"
At the Giraffes she wanted to feed them, until we found out it was about an hour long line. We watched others and moved on.
We took a ride on the train that goes around the perimeter of the zoo.
After lunch she wanted to ride on the "animals that go up and down". Once on the carousel I heard "Oma, stop taking my picture"!
The zoo was having a connect with nature program going. Here is a Lego Zebra.
And a Lego Wildebeast. Several thousand Legos were used for these.
At the gorilla enclosure we got to see the daddy Silverback gorilla.
Also mom and her young one.
One the way out we passed this Lego sculpture of a Polar bear and her two cubs. Other Lego statues are a Chameleon, a large Koi and other animals.
It was a long and fun day. In fact we had so much fun I took her back on President's Day.
