Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

The Christmas holiday was rather busy this year. First off I was hosting Christmas Eve for the family and then I had a friend who recently lost her mother, since she would have otherwise been alone I invited her over for Christmas dinner.

On Christmas Eve I had everything ready before everyone showed up. Note the gingerbread house on the sideboard in the back of the photo. We had fun eating parts of it for dessert.

It is really hard to get an excited, almost 4-year old to stand still for photos. Here she is super excited because I got them no-spill cups for their bubbles and a half-gallon bottle of bubbles.

At Thanksgiving we realized that my daughter did not have a pie server. I took care of that issue.

My grandson was enjoying the tractor and truck my ex-husband had gotten him.

The big hit of the day was a Disney Princess nightgown for Miss Savannah.

After everyone left I had to clean up all the dishes and get ready for Christmas Day. Thankfully it would be Pat and I, a much calmer event. Once I had everything taken care of from Christmas Eve I put on a clean tablecloth and set the table.Yes, it is a a different table cloth, look carefully at the pattern.

For our Christmas dinner I made a roast goose with a brandy glaze, pan roasted Brussels sprouts and a dressing. Very good.

By the 28th of December I noticed my Christmas tree has some very brown and dry spots on it. Rather than tempt fate by keeping it up until the first weekend in January I went ahead and un-decorated the house. My empty dining room.

The house always looks so barren once all the Christmas stuff is put away.

i had really liked how the half wall looked with the Christmas garland on it so I went out and found this pretty Dogwood blossom garland to hang.

It helps dress the place up. Would have preferred Wisteria but I couldn't find any at the time.
